Tonight we visited The Amid Palace on the A444 between Bedworth and Nuneaton. This restaurant is a former Little Chef and is fairly contemporary resembling an American diner, we were greeted immediately and shown to our table where upon the waiter left us to our own devices for about ten minutes before returning to take our drinks order. For a Tuesday evening the restaurant was quite busy and there were between four and five members of staff milling around taking orders, bringing food and drinks all of which seemed friendly enough but not willing to engage in conversation. Eventually we received our drinks and placed our orders. As usual we had popadoms and a selection of chutneys, although there was a choice of seven different chutneys they were fairly bland and sparse in volume and didn't look particularly inviting, nevertheless we polished them off. Onion bhajee was my choice of starter which was fresh, tasty and piping hot and the presentation was good. My main course was Roposi Bangla, a chicken dish in a mild spicy sauce with a boiled egg nestling in the middle accompanied with pilau rice and a chapati. Overall the food was tasty and the service was adequate but it will be some time before I return to The Amid Palace.
