This week The Longford Curry Club were back on familiar territory in Nuneaton at The Crossed khukris Ghurka restaurant. We received a very warm welcome  from Om the owner and were shown to our table. This isn't a modern up-to date establishment but is friendly, quite cosy and full of Ghurka and Nepalese memorabilia. A very pretty waitress dressed in traditional Nepalese costume (always smiling) came and took our order. Popadoms  and chutneys to arouse our taste buds as usual, beautifully fresh and tasty washed down with a Ghurka beer and very nice it was too!
To start I had a Masu samosa, (minced lamb with fresh chillies) piping hot and delicious followed by the Cross Khukris special, a chicken dish made with coconut and chillies, fairly mild but very tasty accompanied with boiled rice and a chilli roti.
There are no gimmicks or over the top presentation at this restaurant, just good, honest, tasty, value for money fresh food and I for one enjoyed it very much. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to eating there again very soon.
