Another excuse to jump on the Beduth Rattler to Coventry, this time to pay a visit to Shimla Spice in Station Square.
This restaurant was established around ten years ago and is in a prime location attracting rail travellers as well as local people. It offers "contemporary Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine". It also has a very well stocked bar and very pleasant surroundings.
On this particular evening the restaurant was extremely busy, probably due to the fact that Christmas parties were in season but nevertheless we were shown to our table very promptly and received our obligatory popadoms and chutneys in no time at all along with cold pints of Cobra beer. I was a little disappointed with the chutneys overall, have had better in most other establishments up to now!
For starters I had meat on puri which was delicious followed by chicken jalfrezi, pilau rice, Bombay potato and a chapati all of which were full of flavour and most enjoyable.
The service was very good and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately we missed out on the complementary drink as we had to dash back to catch the last train back to Beduth. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Shimla Spice and would definitely recommend it.
