Tonight we went for a meal at The Ocean on Jubilee Crescent, Coventry. Upon arrival the exterior of the restaurant does look quite dated, plus the size of the restaurant looks tiny. Once we went inside it was no different, the inside was small and dated also, however, this gave this restaurant a welcoming feel and you got the sense you were visiting a restaurant that had been around for many years. Tonight we were joined by Chris and Anthony, our two newest members and as always we started with popadoms. These were nice and fresh and the portions of chutneys to accompany them were more than sufficient. We had a mixture of different starters including my usual of Shami Kebab. The taste of the Shami Kebab was delicious, however unfortunately the dish was almost cold, as though it was cooked first out of the six starters. For main course I tried an Ocean Speciality of Chicken Akbari, this was a chicken curry cooked with minced meat, I also had a Pilau Rice, Sag Paneer and a Cheese Naan Bread. I can’t fault the main course; everything was hot, fresh and very tasty. One thing Brian ordered was a different type of Paneer (Indian Cheese) which came in butter, I tried this and the taste was incredible. The service we received from the two gentlemen in the restaurant was also faultless, especially from the one waiter who had a great sense of humour from start to finish. Overall the meal was very tasty in an old, experienced Indian Restaurant and I would definitely recommend paying a visit.
